Very few players move between fierce rivals and succeed. Jack Colback still has a long way to go but the 25 year old who made the move from Sunderland to Newcastle is having a stellar season at the heart of the Toon midfield. Racking up over 1087 passes with an accuracy of 89%; Colback has created 35 chances from deep lying central midfield. When compared to the likes of Matic, Schniederlin and Fernandinho; the youngster comes out on top as a creative quarter-back of a midfielder who is defensively adept having the second highest interceptions after Nemanja Matic. Having been called up to the senior England side earlier this season, Colback was forced to withdraw after suffering a shoulder injury. Young Colback is the perfect choice for the base of the diamond in midfield for England in the longer run with Jack Wilshere’s injury record not improving. Keep an eye on Colback as he takes over the mantle of the Newcastle midfield since Yohan Cabaye deserted it back in January last year.
