Prayag United pipped Kingfisher East Bengal by a solitary goal in the IFA Shield Final played at Vivekanada Yuva Bharati Krirangan today. In a lack lustre match Ranti Martins scored the winning goal in the 79th minute of the match. East Bengal also had their chances but the team appeared to be tired after playing 15 matches in the last 47 days and also travelling extensively including abroad during this period.
This was Prayag United’s maiden triumph in the Shield while East Bengal finished Runners up for the 13th times in their 41 finals. Gouramangi Singh, Bello Rasaq, Mohammed Rafique, Ranti Martins (Prayag) and Andrew Borisic (East Bengal) were booked in the match.
