Indian Football – Squad for Singapore friendly announced

NEW DELHI: Fresh from the triumph in the Nehru Cup, the Indian Senior National Football Team will be leaving for Singapore on October 13 in three batches from Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi to play an International Friendly against Singapore. The match will be held on October 16 (Tuesday) at the Choa Chu Kang Stadium. The kick-off is slated for 7.45pm (IST: 5.15pm).

National Coach Wim Koevermans who led India to their third successive Nehru Cup triumph in September said he’s looking forward to the Friendly against Singapore. “We need to assess ourselves. We need more such matches,” he told www.the-aiff.com.

Sunil Chhetri who captained India in the Nehru Cup and is presently in New Delhi added: “It feels nice to think that I will be playing for the National Team along with all my mates. The Nehru Cup triumph stays fresh in our memories and we need to sustain the momentum.”

The Indian Team lands in Singapore on October 13 (in three batches) and would be training at the Match Stadium in the next two days.

The 20-member list stays as follows:

GOALKEEPERS: Subrata Pal, Subhasish Roychowdhury, Karanjeet Singh.

DEFENDERS: Nirmal Chhetri, Denzil Franco, Gouramangi Singh, Gurwinder Singh, Raju Gaikwad, Syed Rahim Nabi.

MIDFIELDERS: Lenny Rodrigues, Mehtab Hossain, Jewel Raja, Francis Fernandes, Alwyn George, Anthony Pereira, Sanju Pradhan, Clifford Miranda.

FORWARDS: Robin Singh, Sunil Chhetri, Joaquim Abranches.
