Goals from Edinson Cavani in each half helped Uruguay beat Portugal 2-1 to book their place in the quarter finals of 2018 FIFA World Cup against France.
Cavani lobbed a pass to Suarez who returned a cross to Cavani to head Uruguay into the lead in the 7th minute. Portugal struggled to get the ball into the box. They equalised in the 56th minute through Pepe after he was left unmarked in a corner. The lead was short as Cavani put Uruguay back into the lead. Uruguay kept their back line solid for the rest of the game preventing Portugal from scoring again.
Diego Godin was another Uruguayan who had a solid game as he prevented Ronaldo from getting any good chance on goal.
