Nepal’s club MMC thrashed United Sikkim 6-2

United_Sikkim_FCBhaichung Bhutia’s relegated I League team were handed an embarrassing 2-6 defeat by Nepal’s Manang Marshyangdi club in the semi finals of King’s cup football tournament in Bhutan.

Playing to qualify for the finals, MMC took the lead as early in the 1st minute itself. USFC missed a golden opportunity when they failed to convert a penalty kick. The score at half time remained 1-0 in favour of MMC.

In the second half, MMC doubled the lead. However, USFC displayed an inspiring comeback when they scored two goals, the last being at the 91st minute.

This the match level at 2-2 after regulation time, the extra time began, which proved to be disastrous for the Sikkim outfit. The Nepali club scored 4 goals in the 30 minutes of extra time to win the game 6-2.

Yona Elias scored hattrick for MMC, while Bhim Darlami, Sujal Shrestha, and Sulav Maskey scored one  goal each. For Sikkim, Bijendra and Thubden scored one goal each.
