Reigning I-League champions, Dempo SC has brought 29 yr. old former Arsenal prodigy, Rohan Ricketts, to Goa for training with the team and to discuss his possible signing with the club!

Dempo SC, who are looking for competent foreign recruits for a strong challenge at Asian club competitions and to continue their Indian dominance, have brought winger Rohan Ricketts who started his career with Arsenal, winning the FA youth Cup with them in 2000, 2001, playing for England u18 and u20 during that period. After Arsenal, Rohan moved to Arsenal rivals Tottenham Hotspur, staying with them till 2007, however playing for many clubs during that period on loan. Those clubs include Wolves and QPR. After leaving Tottenham, he traveled to many countries including Canada, Moldova and Ireland.

Already in Goa, Ricketts have played a 8-a-side practice game. Ricketts told Times of India “The training is obviously not at the same level I am used to but the passion is good enough. Coach Armando Colaco has the same philosophy as Wenger and it is the same thinking I grew up with. They think alike.” He further added “I can see that I fit into the Dempo style. If I continue, I will enjoy my football. The team plays good football and love to keep the ball on the ground. I don’t like the ball in the air. I can’t fly. I would love to be the first (English) Premier League player to play here. I’ve played in the best league in the world and now I want to help Indian football. I want to take Dempo to the next level and want to bring in improvements, both on and off the field.”
