The All India Football Federation (AIFF) shall file its application to claim the hosting rights for FIFA U17 World Cup 2017 by the end of this month.

The football governing body of India hopes to get the written support by the govt. of India by then to back its application.

Earlier in March FIFA president Mr. Sepp Blatter had visited the Indian PM and expressed his will to see India hosting the U17 FIFA World Cup 5 years down the line.

India needs at least 6 world-class stadiums to be able to host the matches. The AIFF has short-listed 8 venues so far.

New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Gauhati, Goa and Kerala have been short-listed as possible venues. But finally 6 venues will be chosen out of them.

If we are successful in bagging the hosting rights, it will be first time ever that India will play in a FIFA World Cup of any age group.
