Former I-League champions Churchill Brothers who were thrown out of I-League  after failing to fulfil the  club licensing criteria two years ago are all set to make a comeback in the I-League. Their owner Churchill Alemao speaking in a political rally has confirmed that Churchill Brothers will play in the upcoming I-League starting in Jan 2017. As per him the supreme court have ruled in their favor.

Churchill brother who were last seen in 2013-2014 season of the I-League though they avoided the relegation were axed from the league along with United Sports Club and Rangdajied United for failing to fulfill the AIFF’s club licensing criteria. Churchill had filed a petition against there axing and according MR.Alemao the court have ruled in there favor

This news comes as a sigh of relief for Goan football, following the exit of Salgoacar FC and Sporting Club De Goa and possible exit of Dempo from the I-League. With no club left from the state AIFF is expected to soften there stand on Churchill Brothers
