In a report by Keith Jackson in Record Sport, it has been revealed that the Scottish Premier League giants Rangers FC are eyeing Sunil Chetri and Jeje Lalpekhlua, the 2 most deadly strikers in Indian Football.
Sunil Chetri and Jeje Lalpekhlua who play for Mohun Bagan and Pune FC respectively are expected to depart at the end of November for trials with the club under Ally McCoist, the manager.
To quote Keith Jackson,
And the visit – which has been set up by director of football Gordon Smith – has been timed to allow McCoist to make a move to sign one or both when the transfer window opens in January.
This indicates that unlike previous cases, the Rangers FC are seriously considering the inclusion of these two players in their roster.
Sunil Chetri has been previously linked with Celtic FC and Benfica. He had also gotten a contract with Queen Park Rangers but failed to secure a work permit which is against the lowly ranked footballing nations. Later on Sunil Chhetri was contracted to the Kansa City Wizards in MLS. Currently he is in a great form playing for Mohun Bagan FC and is in goals.
While Sunil Chetri has been linked to many international clubs previously, this is the first time Jeje Lalpekhlua has appeared in such a scene. He is the latest hot cake in Indian football and has been scoring quite consistently both for his club une FC and Indian National Team.
