The final Premier League match of 2014 sees Liverpool host Swansea City live on Monday (Early Tuesday Morning in India). To watch Liverpool versus Swansea City, live stream free link is given at the end.
A certain Garry Monk had captained Swansea City when they won the promotion to Premier League under Brendan Rodgers’ management in May 2011. Hardly anyone would have guessed then that Rodgers and Monk would be in opposing dugouts at Anfield three years later with the former captain three points ahead of his old boss in the Premier League table.
Liverpool despite a poor performance in their previous game at Burnley had managed to score and keep a clean sheet thus taking home three points. Both the manager and the team would like more of the same as the Reds look to pip Swansea in the league table. Liverpool under Brendan Rodgers have won their last 3 home games against Swansea City and would like to keep the run going on.
While Swansea will travel to Anfield with extra motivation following their heart wrenching defeat in the Capital One Cup, when they led 1-0 but conceded twice in the last four minutes with the second goal coming after Federico Fernández was harshly sent off. The red card was later rescinded on appeal.
Rodgers, who had dropped Simon Mignolet for an indefinite period a fortnight ago, was forced to recall the Belgian as an early substitute in the hard-fought victory at Burnley after his replacement Brad Jones sustained a thigh problem. The injury to Jones means Mignolet, despite looking short of confidence at Turf Moor, will regain his starting place for the visit of Rodgers’ former club to Anfield. Rodgers in spite of publicly backing Mignolet for the match against Swansea City is rumoured to be in the hunt for a number one. Other injury concerns for Liverpool include long-term absentees Daniel Sturridge and Jon Flanagan as well as Glen Johnson. It is doubtful whether Joe Allen will be fit enough to face his former club after suffering a knock while Dejan Lovren is also doubtful.
Swansea too have injury concerns of their own and looks set to be without Jefferson Montero, who was forced off midway through the first half against Villa due to an apparent hamstring injury.
