Patiño-1Angel Guirado has managed to convince his fellow Phil-Spanish striker Javier Patiño Lachica to join the Philippines national football team.

This will be a major boost for the Azkals as they launch their campaign for AFC Challenge Cup 2014 Qualifiers next month.

Javier Patiño is a striker who has appeared for Cordoba CF in 44 games scoring 10 times. Cordoba CF is a second division club (Tier 2) in Spanish League and currently holds a respectable 6th position in the league also known as Liga Adelante just behind the fearsome Barcelona B team.

Another Phil-Spanish player Angel Guirado has already been with the team and recently scored a couple of goals for the Azkals in the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012.

Interestingly, he has been coined the nickname ‘Patigol’ after legendary Batistuta for his knack of scoring important late goals. India beware!
