The 26 membered Indian team for SAFF Championship 2011 was curtailed down to 24 as the coach of Indian team Savio Madeira dropped Baljit Singh and Debabrata Ray from the squad. Baljit was dropped as he failed to match the expectations and particularly performed poorly in Zambia game.

Debabrata Ray is a left back and was dropped because the coach feels we already have many left-backs. Debabrata was an important part of  Armando Colaco managed Indian team. Now he will join his club Dempo for the I-League. Baljit will also join his team east Bengal who are also involved in the Kolkata Premier league

The most surprising part is that erstwhile  highly over-rated striker Sushil Singh is still being patronized by the coach and managed to fit into the team notwithstanding his series of poor performances

  1. wen s tis savio’s term gonna end..??man…his team selection is ruing football in tis country.. colaco was 1000 times better than tis crap…

    • I wouldn’t say that. Armando went 1-3-2 while here. He only managed 1 Match! And that was a match that did not count

    • Listen Silvio is just an Interim Manager till May 12. India is not able to attract quality foriegn coaches due to thier Budget Problems so we would have to accept him for now. I understand what he did against Zambia, He tried out the existing Squad since he did not have enuf time to scout new players so this is it then for SAFF. Btw Baljit sucks in East bengal, I was even Surprised he was part of the Indian Friendles. I guess we need to WIN saff to ensure we maintain Dominance in South asia, Its only after that we can aim to compete at asian levels.
