Manuel Pellegrini’s Manchester City is enjoying a eight match unbeaten run, in which they had won seven, winning the last four matches. Currently, they are in second place, just one point below league leaders, Arsenal. With their current form, and slight slacking in Arsenal’s form, Man City is now one of the most deserving title contenders.
Man City’s attack has been slightly blunt by the absence of injured Argentine Sergio Aguero, but the likes of Edin Dzeko and Negredo are doing the job for them. Dzeko got the sole and ultimately man winning goal against Crystal Palace in their last game.
Man City’s only concern would be their slightly less impressive away form, when they travel to Swansea City. Swansea themselves are desperately looking for a win as they are winless in last five games. Micheal Laudrup’s men have dropped to 11th position with only 21 points from 19 matches. The Swans are struggling to optimize the Europa and EPL simultaneously, eventually struggling in both.
Swansea also has injury problems. Important players like Michel Vorm, Nathan Dyer, Michu and Garry Monk are all injured. And unlike Man City, the bench seems to be unable to compensate for the absence of these players.
The two sides last met exactly one month ago to the day as Pellegrini oversaw a 3-0 victory at the Etihad thanks to an Alvaro Negredo free-kick and a Samir Nasri double. Man City are unbeaten in their last three against the Swans, although the Welsh side did enjoy a 1-0 win in this fixture two seasons ago thanks to a late Luke Moore strike.
