Once again Mehtab Hussain has been overlooked for selection in the Team India for the upcoming AFC Challenge Cup 2012. Savio Medeira has released the 30-membered probables’ list for the AFC Challenge cup 2012.
While the player who is arguably the best midfielder in the country, Mehtab, has not been included in the list, Anthony Pereira with a woeful performance in SAFF Cup 2011 behind his back hashappily walked in along with other seniors. Steven Dias is the senior who has been dropped other than Climax Lawrence who has hence announced retirement.
On the positive side, the promising Arnab Mandal is back in the national side after he was surprisingly dropped from Savio’s scheme of things. The complete list is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Karanjit Singh (Salgaocar), Subhasish Roychowdhury (Dempo SC), Arindam Bhattacharya (Churchill Brothers), Gurpreet Singh Sandhu (Kingfisher East Bengal).
Defenders: Nirmal Chhetri, Raju Gaikwad (both Kingfisher East Bengal), Sameer Naik (Dempo SC), Gourmangi Singh (Churchill Brothers), Anwar Ali, Kinsukh Debnath, Syed Rahim Nabi (all McDowell Mohun Bagan), Arnab Mondal (Prayag United), Gurjinder Singh (Pune FC).
Midfielders: Adil Khan (Sporting Clube de Goa), Anthony Pereira, Clifford Miranda (both Dempo), Reisangmi Vashum (Kingfisher East Bengal), Baldeep Singh, Lester Fernandes (both Pune FC), Rocus Lamare, Francis Fernandes (both Salgaocar SC), Jewel Raja, Manish Mathani (McDowell Mohun Bagan), Lenny Rodrigues, Lalrindika Ralte (both Churchill Brothers).
Forwards: Sunil Chhetri (McDowell Mohun Bagan), Sushil Singh (Shillong Lajong FC – on loan), CS Sabeeth (Pailan Arrows), Manandeep Singh (Air India), Joaquim Abranches (Dempo SC).
The team will travel to Dubai on 15th February for a camp and the final 23-member squad will be announced later.
A notable difference here is No sanju pradhan, He is good going Forward and can create Chances although not good defending, Maybe use him as an Attacking Mid supporting the strickers, No Jeje?? Thats very poor, I thought he did very well till recently and supported Chethri well in attacks. We also dont have a Good Def midfielder, Climax was good but no replacement to him who can hold possesion in Midfield. Rocus Lamare and Vashum are shit and So is Ralte. Need a Solid Def Midfielder. Def wise Gourmangi and Nabi are good but rest are a Little Shaky in def who rather kick the ball out rather than pass to the midfield and maintain possesion. One thing is for sure, Mediera is in soup if he doesnt retain the Cup since his coaching exp is till unproven and critics are still there.
mehtab hussain really deserve a national reacall… Even Sanju Pradhan Deserves national call…. instead of Abranches he should call Singam subhash singh..

Best possible team selection, only conspicuous absence being Sanju Pradhan, in my opinion but Francis and Anthony (if in form) are not bad
