Nehru Cup 2012: Cameroon team visiting India won’t be ‘exciting’

Samuel Eto’o, Alaxandre Song and Carlos Kameni. The three of the many star Cameroon footballers would come to play in India; at least one of them will.

That was what I thought when the AIFF announced that Cameroon has agreed to send their national football team to Nehru Cup 2012 which was projected as a marquee event as a part of platinum jubilee celebration of AIFF.

But that is not happening. Apart from seeing SAFF pals Nepal and Maldives, we would also have the 2nd string team of Cameroon visiting India. The Cameroon Football Federation unapologetically calls it Lions ‘A’ team and rightly so as almost all the players called for the camp are 1st timers and from local clubs. Here is the 30 players probable list along with the clubs that they represent.

1. Ngome Ngowe Lawrence (The Stars FC)

The only solace will be if somehow India holds them or better still, beats them to gain some valuable FIFA Ranking points that we so dearly need.

  1. DON'T OVER REACT, LET SEE HOW THING WILL CHANGE ON THE FIELD. IT IS NOT THE FIRST TIME CAMEROONIAN FC HAS BEAT INDIAN FC; EVEN IN HYDERABAD INDIA, CAMEROONIAN FC HAS ALWAYS SHOW ITSELF AS SUPERSTAR IN THE AREA OF FOOTBALL. THE BIG STARS MIGHT BE THERE, BUT LET SEE WHAT JUNIORS WILL DO ON THE FIELD…………
